Out of the 10 finalists Kamil Roxas was named the winner, received a new Nikon D810 and $8,000 gift voucher.
Majority of people present in the ballroom of the JW Mariott Marquis on Saturday evening had a camera slung across their shoulders. They were all participating photographers at the #IAMAMOVEMENT event at the Nikon Film and Video Festival. The event, that took off at 4.30pm, hosted a large gathering of photographers in the Middle East and also saw the launch of a new model of the camera called Nikon D810.

“Nikon has always been about celebrating artistry and creativity,” said Takashi Yoshida, managing director of Nikon Middle East and Africa FZE. “Our passion is in innovation, but at the core of our identity as a company is the timeless dedication towards nurturing talent, and giving artists new and better ways of expressing their vision to the world.”
For the film and video competition, Nikon invited 10 of the most promising film makers and videographers of Middle East and gave them each the task of creating a three-minute entry with the theme of ‘I Am Life In A Frame’.
The final film lineup was a mix of time lapse videos, mini-documentaries, motivational pieces, and short films. Out of the 10 finalists Kamil Roxas was named the winner, received a new Nikon D810 and $8,000 gift voucher. Roxas said: “Being one of the finalists was an honour in itself, but winning the contest has been an overwhelming experience. I want to express my appreciation to Nikon for giving us artists the platform to introduce our work to the public”. Amir G’nia and Patrick Fronda came second and third, respectively.
In the motion themed photo competition, Mohammed Mekhamer from Egypt won the first prize. Mekhamer said: “They gave us such a challenging theme and with my fellow competitors being some of the best in the field, I didn’t know what to expect at the contest. But I am very pleasantly surprised that my entry came on top! Thanks to Nikon for this great honour.”
Andyramos Letrato and Anthony Tario Austria came second and third, respectively.
Narendra Menon, Regional Head Sales & Marketing for Nikon MEA FZE, said: “In the past few years, the growth of the photography and videography community in the Middle East has been nothing short of staggering, and we are proud to say that Nikon has been able to stay in tune with the pulse of this upsurge”.
